Mocks 1-3 and sample answers

Once you’re comfortable with how to assess, plan, write and review your essay, it’s time to practise the strategy with mock essays.

Use the mocks below to hone your technique. Your practice will be most effective if you:

• Only look at the task when you’re ready to begin.
• Take a full 65 minutes and stay disciplined in splitting the time between Task A and Task B.
• Complete the tasks in exam conditions. This means typing your responses on a computer, with spelling and grammar checks disabled. You’ll also be unable to use the Internet or any other software except the document in which you are working.
• Compare your responses to the sample answers to see what you did well or could improve on.
• Leave a few days or even a full week between each set of mock essays so that you’re fresh and ready to give them your best try.
